There are different materials for making tea pots. Pottery, porcelain, glass, silver, and metal are the typical materials for making pots. They also come in different sizes and shapes. Pour boiled hot water into several different tea pots and see how fast the temperature of the hot water will drop. If the pots are made with same materials, and made exactly the same shape and size, does the temperature of the water inside drop in the same speed? The answer is No. If you fill only half of the pot with the water and see the temperature change again, you will find the greater differences. Depending on if you are inside, outside, or in the air-conditioned room, the capacity of the pot to keep the temperature will change.
