Varieties of Oolong tea and its quality Brand names of Oolong tea are usually named after the trees of origin. Well known brands of oolong tea are Teguan-non cha from Fujian province, Shui-xian cha from Wu-ye mountains area, Huang -tan, and mixtures of Se-she etc…. Oolong tea in Fujian was first cultivated in the early 19th century. First cultivation started with the branches from the mountains area north of Fu-jian province and East side of Guang-tong province. Cultivation expanded to Min-nan, south of Fu-jian province, and they started to produce own kind of oolong tea from the branches of the tea produced in the An-hui area. Te-guan-non cha has the fragrances of the fragrant olives, and is rated as a first-class oolong tea. When Shui-xian cha is a kind of tea when they are brewed, the color of the tea is quite dark. Also it holds a smoked aroma and strong taste. Oolong tea is also very famous in Taiwan. Qingxing oolong from Taiwan is made from the breed of Qingxing dapan. The taste of oolong tea can be very different depending on the type of breed and where they come from.
