Kenya is the world's top exporter of black tea. Much of Kenya's tea is used by international firms to blend with other leaves. Fortunately, however, in recent years, the black tea produced in the country is being marketed in increasing quantities as Kenyan tea. Kenyan tea has established a reputation the world over for its high and consistent quality throughout the year. Of course, Kenyan people, too, are fond of tea. "Anytime is tea time" is a common saying among the people. And when a young Kenyan visits prospective in-laws, a grandmother in particular, taking black tea as a present is a local custom as it blends with their hearts. If you have the opportunity to visit Kenya, along with the spectacular sights and vast natural beauty of a safari, it would be a special delight to stop at a home to taste the locally produced black tea. Also recommended is a drive in or around the highland areas on both sides of the Great Rift Valley where black tea is grown. And a visit with the Masai people would be an unforgettable experience.
