How to plant tea sapling

First of all, carefully chose the soil with good drainage condition. If the place is too damp, tea can grow well only for 1 year or 2 years. When tea trees become mature, the roots can reach to approximately 1 meter deep under the ground. Therefore it is important to put that in the mind, and prepare the soil. Dig the soil for desirably 1 meter deep or at least 50cm deep and mix the soil with compost. To prepare the professional tea estates and farms, dig the soil for 1-2 meter and bury the pipe for drainage. Sapling can be purchased directly from the farmers. You can always ask farmers cooperative office for advice. March is a good time to plant tea sapling. When the new buds start to grow, the water control become too difficult. Heap the soil up to 20cm high from the ground surface. Dig the hole deep enough that root can be placed in without bending. By supporting it with two hands, slowly settle the roots in the hole and cover it with the soil. After planting, give plenty of water. Water helps holding the soil and the root together. Cut off the part of sapling higher than 15 cm from the ground for better stability. To avoid the soil from drying, cover the soil with straws. Leave 30cm space between the saplings. After correctly planting the saplings, special maintenance will not be needed. When the day is too windy, protect them from breaking perhaps using a net or something. Water the trees when necessary, but be careful not to give too much.
